Roman\u0131n panoramas\u0131 \u00f6ylesine geni\u015f ki elliye yak\u0131n karakteri roman boyunca takip edebilmek ger\u00e7ekten g\u00fc\u00e7. Fakat roman boyunca \u00f6ne \u00e7\u0131kan Adnan, Belk\u0131s, Moiz, Hidayet, S\u00fcheyla, Dalkavuk S\u00fcleyman, Tevfik Hoca, Da\u011f\u0131stanl\u0131 Hoca ve \u015eair Raif&#8217;tir.<br \/>\n\u00c7\u00fcr\u00fcyen \u0130stanbul&#8217;un hikayesi (kokusu) \u00fc\u00e7 d\u00f6nem boyunca resmedilir. Kuntay bu romanda \u00f6zel olarak bu koku\u015fmu\u015flu\u011fu \u00f6ne \u00e7\u0131kar\u0131r. \u0130stanbul&#8217;un farkl\u0131 d\u00f6nemlerinde \u00f6ne \u00e7\u0131kan bu ki\u015filer ikiy\u00fczl\u00fc, dalkavuk, jurnalci ba\u015fkalar\u0131n\u0131n k\u00f6t\u00fcl\u00fcklerinden beslenen, bir birini satan, \u00fcst\u00fc kapal\u0131 bi\u00e7imde de olsa \u00e7\u0131karlar\u0131 gere\u011fi e\u015flerini ba\u015fkalar\u0131na sunan tiplerdir.<\/p>\n<p>Roman\u0131n ba\u015f karakteri Adnan, 93 harbi nedeniyle g\u00f6\u00e7 eden muhacir bir ailenin \u00e7ocu\u011fu, ald\u0131\u011f\u0131 hukuk e\u011fitimiyle avukat olan, \u00f6te yandan Belk\u0131s&#8217;a edebiyat, ard\u0131ndan S\u00fcheyla&#8217;ya tarih dersi verir, Her kad\u0131na \u00e7\u0131karlar\u0131 do\u011frultusunda davranmaktan \u00e7ekinmeyen Kuntay&#8217;\u0131n bize sevdirebildi\u011fi bir insan. &#8220;Y\u0131k\u0131lan Vatan&#8221; ad\u0131nda hi\u00e7 bir zaman bitiremedi\u011fi bir roman yazmaktad\u0131r.<br \/>\nRoman\u0131n karakterleri, mekanlarla, sahip olduklar\u0131 m\u00fclklerle \u00f6zde\u015f k\u0131l\u0131nm\u0131\u015f, yoksul insanlar\u0131n imrenerek bakt\u0131klar\u0131 K\u00f6\u015fklerin. Yal\u0131lar\u0131n, Konaklar\u0131n insanlar\u0131d\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>Ama Mithat Cemal, bunca servetin, varl\u0131kl\u0131 insanlar\u0131n ya\u015fad\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u00e7\u00fcr\u00fcmenin d\u0131\u015f\u0131nda kalan sokaklar\u0131, yoksullu\u011fu direnen, serpilip geli\u015fen hayat\u0131 bu romana katmaz. Roman\u0131nda iyi insanlara az yer verir. Da\u011f\u0131stanl\u0131 hoca, \u015eair Raif, S\u00fcheyla bu roman\u0131n iyi insanlar\u0131d\u0131r ama ana karakterlerin hep gerisindedirler.<\/p>\n<p>Halktan &#8220;a\u015fa\u011f\u0131 halk&#8221; diye s\u00f6z eder, han kahvecisinden &#8220;teneff\u00fcs\u00fc vapurdaki ikinci mevki kokuyordu&#8221; der. Halk\u0131 da, y\u0131k\u0131lmaya y\u00fcz tutan soylu aristokrasi kadar k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fcmser.<br \/>\nFethi Naci, romana ili\u015fkin \u015funlar\u0131 s\u00f6yl\u00fcyor: &#8221; Oysa \u00dc\u00e7 \u0130stanbul&#8217;un anlatt\u0131\u011f\u0131 d\u00f6nem, politik, ekonomik ve sosyal bak\u0131mdan \u00f6nemle incelenmesi gereken bir d\u00f6nem. \u00dc\u00e7 \u0130stanbul i\u00e7in k\u0131saca Osmanl\u0131 \u0130mparatorlu\u011fu&#8217;nun y\u0131k\u0131l\u0131\u015f\u0131n\u0131n roman\u0131d\u0131r. 19.y\u00fczy\u0131l\u0131n ba\u015flar\u0131nda \u00fclkeye iyice nufuz etmeye ba\u015flayan Bat\u0131, \u00f6nce bu geni\u015f pazar\u0131 ucuz fabrika mallar\u0131yla doldurmu\u015f, sonra sermaye ihrac\u0131na ba\u015flam\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Kapitalist Bat\u0131 kar\u015f\u0131s\u0131nda, sanayide el tezgahlar\u0131 ve k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck at\u00f6lyelerle, tar\u0131mda karasabanla tutunmaya \u00e7al\u0131\u015fan imparatorlu\u011fun y\u0131k\u0131lmas\u0131 ka\u00e7\u0131n\u0131lmazd\u0131. \u00dclke yava\u015f yava\u015f bir yar\u0131 s\u00f6m\u00fcrge durumuna gelmi\u015fti. Abdulhamid, i\u00e7 ve d\u0131\u015f bask\u0131lar kar\u015f\u0131s\u0131nda saltanat\u0131n\u0131 korumak ve s\u00fcrd\u00fcrmek i\u00e7in bask\u0131y\u0131 art\u0131rd\u0131k\u00e7a art\u0131rm\u0131\u015ft\u0131. Halk\u0131n en k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck direnmesi, ayd\u0131nlar\u0131n \u00f6zg\u00fcrl\u00fckten yana tutumlar\u0131 \u015fiddetle bast\u0131r\u0131l\u0131yordu.<\/p>\n<p>1908 hareketi mutlakiyeti y\u0131km\u0131\u015f, \u00f6zg\u00fcrl\u00fck d\u00f6neminin geldi\u011fini ilan etmi\u015ftir. Bas\u0131n \u00f6zg\u00fcrl\u00fc\u011f\u00fc, toplant\u0131 \u00f6zg\u00fcrl\u00fc\u011f\u00fc, fikir \u00f6zg\u00fcrl\u00fc\u011f\u00fc vatanda\u015flar\u0131n tabii haklar\u0131 say\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Ne var ki \u0130ttihat ve Terakki, memleketin kurtulu\u015funu memleketi bu duruma getiren Bat\u0131 emperyalizmin yard\u0131m\u0131nda aram\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. Onlar i\u00e7in en sevindirici haber, (bug\u00fcn oldu\u011fu gibi) a\u011f\u0131r faizler ve b\u00fcy\u00fck tavizler kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131nda al\u0131nm\u0131\u015f bir d\u0131\u015f bor\u00e7tu. Bir tak\u0131m insanlar kolayca vurgunlar vurup zengin oluyorlard\u0131, ama \u00fcretim artm\u0131yordu kalk\u0131nma ger\u00e7ekle\u015fmiyordu. \u00d6zg\u00fcrl\u00fck s\u00f6ylevlerine ra\u011fmen halk\u0131n sefaleti, gerili\u011fi oldu\u011fu gibi s\u00fcr\u00fcp gidiyordu. Derken 31 Mart&#8230;<br \/>\nAbd\u00fclhamid tahttan indirilir yerine Sultan Re\u015fat getirilir. 31 Mart, \u00f6zg\u00fcrl\u00fckleri k\u0131s\u0131tlamak i\u00e7in iyi bir bahane olur. Bask\u0131 tedbirleri \u015fiddetlendirilir. \u0130\u015f\u00e7i hareketlerine, sendikalara kar\u015f\u0131 ter\u00f6r ba\u015flar \u0130ktidar dar bir kadronun elinde toplan\u0131r. \u00d6zg\u00fcrl\u00fck s\u00f6z de bile olsa yoktur&#8221;<br \/>\nFethi Naci<br \/>\nY\u00fcz Y\u0131l\u0131n 100 Roman\u0131<br \/>\n\u0130\u015f Bankas\u0131 K\u00fclt\u00fcr Yay\u0131nlar\u0131<\/p>\n<p>B\u00f6yle bir \u00e7\u00f6k\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn y\u00fczeye yans\u0131mas\u0131 toplumsal de\u011ferlerin \u00e7\u00fcr\u00fcmesi \u015feklinde kendini ortaya koyar, ancak Mithat Cemal&#8217;in kendine \u00f6zg\u00fc bak\u0131\u015f\u0131 i\u00e7inde bu ger\u00e7e\u011fe yer yok.<br \/>\nRomanda emperyalizmin Osmanl\u0131y\u0131 ne hale getirdi\u011fini \u015fu s\u00f6zlerle aktar\u0131r: &#8220;\u0130stanbul&#8217;da \u00fc\u00e7 \u015fapka vard\u0131r. \u00c7aml\u0131ca tepesinden evvel bu \u00fc\u00e7 \u015fapka g\u00f6r\u00fcl\u00fcr. Rejideki Ramber&#8217;in, d\u00fcyunu umumuiyeci Berje&#8217;nin, \u015fimendiferci H\u00fcgnen&#8217;in kafas\u0131nda duran \u00fc\u00e7 serpu\u015f! Bu \u00fc\u00e7 \u015fapka bu \u00fc\u00e7 kafadan bazen kald\u0131r\u0131ma iner, bazen bulutlara f\u0131rlar; \u015fimdi iki elde bir topa\u00e7 olur, d\u00f6ner. \u015eimdi iki \u00e7at\u0131k ka\u015f \u00fcst\u00fcnde bir umac\u0131 olur durur. Osmanl\u0131 imparatorlu\u011fu denen u\u015fak odas\u0131n\u0131 bu \u00fc\u00e7 \u015fapka idare eder.&#8221;<br \/>\nAdnan&#8217;na &#8220;zaten bu memleketin neresi benim? Ere\u011fli&#8217;de k\u00f6m\u00fcr Frans\u0131z!, Haydarpa\u015fa&#8217;da demir Alman!, Yaln\u0131z Yemen&#8217;de d\u00f6k\u00fclen kan T\u00fcrk! Dedirtir.<\/p>\n<p>1908 hareketinden sonra her yerde ger\u00e7ekle\u015fen grev hareketlerinin \u00e7at\u0131\u015fmalar\u0131n hi\u00e7 birine roman\u0131nda yer vermez. Halk neredeyse yoktur, Kuntay i\u00e7in zavall\u0131 ac\u0131nacak insanlar ve fakirler vard\u0131r ama halk yoktur. Oysa direni\u015f g\u00f6steren bir halk var, polisi jandarmas\u0131 ile \u00e7at\u0131\u015fan bir halk, bu halk. Kuntay&#8217;\u0131n \u00e7\u00fcr\u00fcyen tablosunda serpilip geli\u015fen ve gelece\u011fin tohumlar\u0131 olarak yer tutmaz. Kuntay i\u00e7in bu de\u011fersizdir.<\/p>\n<p>Fethi Naci romana ve roman\u0131n yazar\u0131na dair \u015fu ilgin\u00e7 saptamay\u0131 yapar: &#8221; Kuntay kimi eksikliklerine ra\u011fmen d\u00f6neme ili\u015fkin elinde biriktirdikleriyle bize \u00f6yle geni\u015f bir panorama sunar ki, roman\u0131n ba\u015far\u0131s\u0131 Kuntaya&#8217;a ra\u011fmen bir ba\u015far\u0131d\u0131r&#8221; (age)<\/p>\n<p>Mithat Cemal Kuntay bildiklerini anlatmas\u0131 aktarmas\u0131 anlam\u0131nda kendine bir yol \u00e7izer. Anlatt\u0131klar\u0131na ili\u015fkin tarihsel nedenler, ekonomi politi\u011fin, bilimsel de\u011ferlendirmeleri beni ilgilendirmez diyen bir yan\u0131 vard\u0131r.<br \/>\nBir okuyucu olarak Kuntay&#8217;\u0131n tercihine sayg\u0131s\u0131zl\u0131k edemem, neyi eksik b\u0131rak\u0131p ve ya \u00f6ne \u00e7\u0131kard\u0131\u011f\u0131 onun tercihidir. \u0130steyen kendine g\u00f6re bir eksen \u00fczerinden okuma yapabilir. Fakat olumsuz ele\u015ftirileri bir yana b\u0131rakarak s\u00f6ylemeliyim ki, Kuntay&#8217;\u0131n g\u00f6zlem g\u00fcc\u00fcyle ortaya koydu\u011fu bu eser &#8220;\u00dc\u00e7 \u0130stanbul&#8221; roman tarihimizin en \u00f6nemli eseri olarak yerini hep koruyacakt\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>Roman\u0131 g\u00fc\u00e7l\u00fc k\u0131lan, roman i\u00e7inde Adnan, Hidayet, Moiz ve Belk\u0131s karakterlerinin kaderleri, \u00fclkenin kaderiyle birlikte \u00fc\u00e7 d\u00f6nem i\u00e7inde \u00f6nce \u00e7\u00f6k\u00fc\u015fe ard\u0131ndan y\u00fckseli\u015fe ve yeniden \u00e7\u00f6k\u00fc\u015fe s\u00fcr\u00fcklenen bir paralellik i\u00e7inde verilmi\u015f olmas\u0131d\u0131r.<br \/>\nHer d\u00f6nemin adam\u0131 olmaya \u00e7al\u0131\u015fan Adnan&#8217;\u0131n \u0130ttihat ve Terakki ile ba\u015flayan y\u00fckseli\u015fi, ba\u015f\u0131ndan beri uyumlu olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131, \u0130stibdat&#8217;\u0131 temsil eden Belk\u0131s&#8217;la gerilimi daha da artar.<br \/>\nSevgiden yoksun, b\u00fct\u00fcn\u00fcyle \u00e7\u0131kara dayal\u0131 ili\u015fkileri ya\u015fad\u0131klar\u0131 son derece l\u00fcks kona\u011f\u0131 bile, so\u011fuk gri, resmi bir havaya d\u00f6n\u00fc\u015ft\u00fcr\u00fcr.<br \/>\n&#8221; E\u011fer seni aldatm\u0131yorsam, bu sana de\u011fil kendime duydu\u011fum sayg\u0131 gere\u011fidir&#8221; der.<br \/>\nBelk\u0131s bunu iki ayr\u0131, bir birine z\u0131t , ait olduklar\u0131 s\u0131n\u0131flar\u0131 vurgulamak i\u00e7in s\u00f6yler.<br \/>\nAdnan Belk\u0131s&#8217;a vurgundur, Belk\u0131s \u00e7ok g\u00fczel al\u0131ml\u0131 bir Osmanl\u0131 kad\u0131n\u0131d\u0131r, Adnan onun kar\u015f\u0131s\u0131nda her zaman eziktir. Ve bir g\u00fcn Adnan&#8217;\u0131 terk edip aristokrat bir Rus Prensi ile evlenir. E\u015fini be\u011fenir \u00e7\u00fcnk\u00fc onda Adnan da olmayan bir \u015fey vard\u0131r, derisinden k\u0131yafetine kadar ta\u015f\u0131d\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u015f\u0131kl\u0131k. Roman\u0131n bir yerinde, Belk\u0131s kendisine verilen g\u00f6revi hak etti\u011fine inand\u0131\u011f\u0131 biri i\u00e7in nedenini, &#8220;\u00e7\u00fcnk\u00fc sofrada yeme\u011fini edepli yiyor&#8221; diyerek dile getirir.<br \/>\nAma kader Belk\u0131s&#8217;\u0131, tarihin sayfas\u0131na, \u00f6nce Amerika da \u00e7orap paket\u00e7isine \u00e7evirip bir ak\u015fam i\u015f \u00e7\u0131k\u0131\u015f\u0131 banyosunu yap\u0131p ard\u0131ndan g\u00fczel yata\u011f\u0131nda gaz\u0131 a\u00e7\u0131p uzanarak sonsuz uykusuna dalan kad\u0131n olarak \u00e7izer.<\/p>\n<p>Roman\u0131n ba\u015flar\u0131nda, sevimlili\u011fi vefal\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131 ile bilinen Moiz, \u0130sdibdat d\u00f6neminde Avrupa ya gider ne yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131 silik bi\u00e7imde aktar\u0131l\u0131r, fakat \u00f6ncesinde bir ak\u015fam balosu da kar\u0131s\u0131 Ra\u015fel&#8217;i Adnan ile tan\u0131\u015ft\u0131r\u0131r ve gecenin ilerleyen bir saatinde Moiz, hep birlikte bindikleri bir ara\u00e7tan iner Adnan&#8217;la kar\u0131s\u0131 Ra\u015fel&#8217;i ba\u015f ba\u015fa b\u0131rak\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>\u0130stibdat d\u00f6neminde Selanikte avukatl\u0131k yapan Moiz, sahte evraklar haz\u0131rlayarak hem sigorta \u015firketlerinden, hem de mali kazaya u\u011frayan t\u00fcccarlardan para al\u0131r. \u0130ttihat ve Terakki zaman\u0131nda \u0130ttihat\u00e7\u0131 olur Suriye ile alt\u0131n ka\u00e7ak\u00e7\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131, Almanlar&#8217;la ithalat&#8230; Kar\u0131s\u0131n\u0131 ortaklar\u0131na pe\u015fke\u015f \u00e7eker serveti korkun\u00e7tur. Yenilgiden sonra \u0130talyan olur, servetini kaybeder ve intihar eder.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Olaylar konu\u015fmalar hep yal\u0131larda , konaklarda \u015fa\u015fal\u0131 salonlarda ge\u00e7er. \u0130stibdat d\u00f6neminde Hidayetin yal\u0131s\u0131nda, \u0130ttihat ve Terakki d\u00f6neminde Adnan\u0131n kona\u011f\u0131nda, m\u00fctareke d\u00f6neminde de Na\u015fit&#8217;in salonunda. \u0130nsanlar de\u011fi\u015fmez hep ayn\u0131 insanlar de\u011fi\u015fen \u015fartlarla birlikte de\u011fi\u015fip farkl\u0131 bir k\u0131l\u0131kla kar\u015f\u0131m\u0131za yeniden \u00e7\u0131karlar. Bunlar her d\u00f6nemin insanlar\u0131d\u0131r.<br \/>\nAdnan her \u015feyin merkezinde kendisini g\u00f6rmek ister, kendisinin herkes taraf\u0131ndan \u00f6nemsenmesini ve kendisi hakk\u0131nda konu\u015fulmas\u0131n\u0131 ister, Gorki&#8217;nin k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck burjuva i\u00e7in s\u00f6yledi\u011fi &#8221; k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck burjuva, her d\u00fc\u011f\u00fcnde damat her cenazede \u00f6l\u00fc olmak ister&#8221; s\u00f6z\u00fc gelir akl\u0131ma. Herkesi a\u015fa\u011f\u0131 g\u00f6ren Adnan a\u015fa\u011f\u0131 buldu\u011fu her insanda kendisinde olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcnd\u00fc\u011f\u00fc \u015feyleri bulur, \u015eair Raif namuslu adamd\u0131r, Raif i be\u011feniyor ama onun gibi olmak i\u015fine gelmiyor. Hidayet&#8217;i hem be\u011fenmiyor hem de onun gibi olmak istiyor, \u00e7\u0131rp\u0131n\u0131p duran bir adamd\u0131r Adnan. Sahip oldu\u011fu hi\u00e7 bir bilgi hayatla sava\u015fmak i\u00e7in gerekli de\u011fildir, ki\u015fisel y\u00fckseli\u015fine yarayacak ara\u00e7t\u0131r sadece.
